Horse Racing Betting Tips – 5.10pm John Woodman Handicap at Goodwood

Horse racing betting tips for the 5.10pm John Woodman Handicap At Goodwood on Sunday.

Goodwood on Sunday might seem a bit of an anticlimax for the weekend following two great days of racing at Epsom but the seven furlong handicap at 5.10pm should offer us something to get our teeth stuck into.  It looks massively competitive with the top 10 in the weights covered by just 5lbs.

Democretes (16/1 SkyBet) isn’t the easiest of rides but he is well enough handicapped to play a part in this on his first start for John Butler.  The move to a smaller yard might be just the ticket for this quirky sort and he has solid course form in the book to add to his claims.

JOEY’S DESTINY (14/1 bet365) has won here over six furlongs and has always looked the type to appreciate this trip with last gasp wins when sprinting.  He has plenty of form with cut in the ground so the possibility of Saturday thunderstorms won't cause him to lose any sleep.

The Confessor (8/1 Ladbrokes) was disappointing on his comeback but Goodwood has always been a happy hunting ground for him.  This is his lowest handicap mark since winning at the Glorious meeting 22 months ago, also coincidently the last time he ran in a race as low as a 0-90 which he contests here.

Game Mascot (33/1 SkyBet) is interesting on his first run for Tony Carroll.  Most of his form in France looks on the ordinary side but on a Listed run at Chantilly last March he would be well in off a mark of 86 on his UK debut.  It's tough to be too pragmatic about his chances but a market move should certainly be noted for a shrewd yard.

Oblitereight (8/1 William Hill) boasts an excellent record fresh so just one run in the last 19 months shouldn't be too much of a concern.  He was running well in similar handicaps off marks around and about where he finds himself today when last seen on turf and should go well.

Good Luck Charm (12/1 Coral) has twice been placed off this mark last season and has run well enough from a slightly higher rating in two starts this year.  He has a Brighton win to his credit as well as solid efforts here and at Epsom so switchback tracks are obviously to his liking although he wouldn't want anymore rain.

Realize (16/1 SkyBet) had a steadily progressive three year old campaign, returning in good heart at Southwell in April.  He possibly bounced when turned out quickly at the same venue the last time we saw him but he seems the type that Hughie Morrison excels with and there should be more to come.

A very tight knit contest with bits and pieces of chances given to the majority of the field.  A watching brief in the betting is strongly advised with a strong word for The Confessor, Game Mascot or Oblitereight of interest but a token vote goes to JOEY’S DESTINY for whom the step up to seven furlongs might just bring about enough improvement for him to score.
