Horse racing betting tips for the 3.50pm Totepool Home Of Pool Betting Handicap at Nottingham on Wednesday.

Nottingham hosts a seven race card on Wednesday, the highlight of which is the Class 2 Totepool Home Of Pool Betting Handicap over an extended mile.  Seven horses have been declared and the race has attracted some interesting types who could go on to better things.

Brian Ellison enters two in the race – Balty Boys (20/1 bet365) and Beaumont’s Party (14/1 Betfred).  The former ran earlier in the week in a York handicap but didn’t seem to make a mark.  He seems to be in the handicappers grip now and will probably need to drop in weights before winning a race like this. Beaumont’s Party hasn’t been seen since hurdling in December but had some good form before that, placing in good quality Class 2 handicaps. Despite that, like his stablemate, he will more than likely need to receive help from the handicapper before winning a race of this quality although the ground will suit.

Fort Bastion (4/1 Coral) comes here off the back of two classy runs and finished second in a Listed race last time out.  Dropped back in class for this, he still has a bit in hand at the ratings with some of his previous runs and I wouldn’t be surprised if he put up another bold show.

David O’Meara has been in cracking form as of late and he sends Two For Two (6/1 Ladbrokes) to this handicap.  The horse is a likeable sort who never seems to run a bad race but he also struggles to get his head in front and this will be just as tough as his previous assignments.

The Rectifier (7/1 bet365) has been slowly improving in the ratings with big runs including his third place finish at Haydock last time out.  Despite a fantastic start to the season he is getting back to a high enough handicap mark but he can’t be totally ruled out.

Remote (6/4 SkyBet) returns after being pulled out at the weekend due to the ground and again the ground here is unlikely to see this horse at his ultimate best.  He’s also going to have to carry a lot of weight and will need to perform up to his very best to win but should make the frame.

This is a tough, competitive race but the interesting horse is ARTIGIANO (11/2 William Hill). The odd sight of Richard Hughes in Godolphin colours should be enough to tell you how highly the horse is thought of and, if returning in good form, he should run a big race.  Before having a year off, as a 2yo the horse finished a few lengths behind multiple Group 1 winners on three occasions and ran some decent races in Meydan at the start of this season.

This race looks a good quality contest with Remote, The Rectifier and Fort Bastion all holding live chances but ARTIGIANO, if living up to 2yo form on British return, could be very well handicapped and I wouldn’t want to be against him.
