Horse racing betting tips for the best bets from Ayr on Sunday

With a relatively quiet day’s racing on Sunday, attention turns to Ayr and their eight race card. Two races in particular have caught my eye and they form part of Sunday’s best bets.

1.30 Ayr

When betting in maidens, I usually like to back horses who have already had racecourse experience. DOCLE AND KARAMA (7/4 SkyBet) drops back in class having run in the Irish 2,000 Guineas and he should have learnt plenty from running in better company. He is the clear form pick in a race which looks to be a fairly weak maiden.

Legal Waves has also had plenty of racecourse experience and attempts to break his duck on his tenth start. He drops back into maiden company after finishing second in a handicap at Pontefract and should be in the mix, however I question his resolution as he tends to find one too good. Earl of Menteith is the only other runner with previous experience and he finished a good third on debut to the Brown Sugar. He hasn’t been seen on a racecourse since June last season and should need this run.

3.30 Ayr

Trainer Keith Dalgleish has been in superb form this season and his representative – SOUND ADVICE (7/2 Betfred) should be able to land this average looking handicap. The five-year-old has run well on his latest two starts, finishing a close second on both of those occasions. Although he has gone up 5lbs in the weights for those efforts, the form has been franked by a horse who finished a good two-and-a-half lengths behind Dalgleish’s horse.

The horse in question was Balducci who re-opposes here. He has to give almost a stone in weight to Sound Advice and it seems bizarre to think that the contest will be closer when David O’Meara’s runner has already been dispatched once this season by the selection. Dubai Dynamo was a winner at Chester a few weeks back and dropped back down in class for this race, however he may be in the handicapper’s grip thanks to that victory.
