Golf Betting Tips – Win and Each Way- 2013 NORDEA MASTERS

Noren.jpg

Welcome everyone to the Nordea Masters. This is the encore event after last week's flagship BMW event and will have a weak field with only a third of the prize money that was offered last week. A regular stop since 1991, they have played this event at Bro Hof Slott Golf Club near Stockholm, Sweden since 2010. Last year Lee Westwood beat up a weak field and kissed the trophy with a finishing score of -19/273.

This is a very long 7600 yd par 72 that will offer some birdie opportunities for those that drive the ball well. Home course advantage will be in play as Swedes have won 2 of 3 here before Westwood took it down last year. Previously held after the US Open this event has been bumped up a couple months to it's new early June schedule slot. Aside from driving distance we'll want to look at scoring and current form as well.

I've mentioned we have a weak field this week with defending champ Westwood playing in the Memorial, we do have a couple other past tournament champions teeing it up including Swedish countrymen Peter Hanson and Alexander Noren. Other notables include last weeks winner Matteo Manassero, Francesco Molinari, Pablo Larrazabal, Paul Lawrie, Jamie Donaldson and others.

To Win

Alexander Noren 12/1

Alex tops our list for this event having played well here the last couple years. Winner in 2011 and T10 last year, Noren is a Swede who will look to again play well in his own backyard. Originally from Stockholm, Noren has made 7/7 cuts on the Euro circuit with 3 top tens and also top 20'd both WGC events this season. A solid tee to green player look for him to be in contention all week versus this weak field.

Peter Hanson 20/1

Second on our list is former winner from 2008, from Sweden he should have good knowledge of the course. Long off the tee Hanson averages 298 yards and that will help him this week on this beast of a course. 3/3 in cuts made on the Euro Tour this season he has 2 top tens including T9 at the recent Volvo Match Play. 6/7 cuts made on the PGA Tour highlighted by T8 at WGC Cadillac and T50 at The Masters. Good tee to green player Hanson can drive for show and putt for dough. Hanson T3 here last year let's see if he can take it down once again this year.

Each Way

Mikko Ilonen 33/1

The flying Finn will be our first e/w selection this week. His nick name has been true of late has he's been playing in events all over the world. He's made 6/9 cuts this year highlighted by a couple runner up finishes and T12 last week in Wentworth. He'll be happy to be close to home for this one and has no reason not to play very well. A good putter that scores and scrambles well, he averages 291+ off the tee and likes this course. Worth noting that in 10 trips to this event his two top tens have come at this course in the last two years.

Peter Uihlein 40/1

Winner for us two weeks ago in Portugal at the MIO, Peter is coming off a T12 at the prestigious BMW event from Wentworth. He's been playing well this year and seems to enjoy the weaker field events. He's made his last 9 cuts in a row and has finished outside the top 25 only twice. Long off the tee(ranks 7th on the Euro Tour at 302.5) and a good putter his game sets up well for this track.

Jamie Donaldson 40/1

Jamie is a regular at this event having played it nine times and logging 4 top tens all coming in the past five years and 2 top tens in three trips to Bro Hof Slott GC. Playing well this year, Jamie picked up the win at the Abu Dahbi event back in January when both Tiger and Rory missed the cut. Runner up here in 2009 he'll look to continue his good play at this event with a win this week. Good all around player and solid putting skills should help keep him in contention all week.

Kiradech Aphibarnrat 100/1

Taking a chance with this new player from Thailand. He's been playing well all year and though he's a first timer on this course, is offering value for us as an e/w selection. Aside from his missed cut at Wentworth he's played very well in the tournaments he's played. Got his first big win at the weather shortened Maybank Malaysian Open back in March and took solo fourth the week before that at the Avantha Masters. After his win he went on to post 3 straight finishes of 17th or better. Averaging 298 off the tee and ranked 6th in stroke average versus this field we'll back him and expect him to get back to his solid form on a much easier track.
