KEVIN CHAPPELL to beat GEOFF OGILVY – @4/5

Chappell was one of my outright tips who has failed to shine, although a decent round today and he will still finish Top 20; excellent ball striker who has a good round 4 scoring average and excellent recent US Open form, with two Top 10’s in the last two years. Former US Open champ Ogilvy has been erratic this season (for longer than that if we are honest), with the wind expected to blow a little stronger Ogilvy’s high soft landing ball flight will be less of an advantage on a firming Merion layout, I fancy Chappell by a couple.

JOHN PARRY to beat PADRIAG HARRINGTON – @9/4

Don’t like to bet against Harrington in a major, he does tend to save his best for the big events ;but having seen a fair amount of his round yesterday, he does not fill me with confidence (especially his putting) and Parry is an excellent price at 9/4. Harrington is not the straightest and with his latest ‘tinker’ the move to the belly putter not paying off, I can only see him going backward. Parry on the other hand is an accurate ball striker, who hits plenty of fairways and greens and won Q school last year which shows excellent bottle, assuming his ball striking is up to scratch I expect Parry to win this match up.
