Cheltenham Horse Racing Trends (RUK/C4)

7/10 – Won their last race
5/10 – Favourites
4/10 – Went onto finish 1st or 2nd in the Triumph Hurdle
4/10 – Irish bred
4/10 – German bred
3/10 – Ran at Chepstow last time out
3/10 – Trained by Paul Nicholls
2/10 – Trained by Philip Hobbs
2/10 – Trained by Alan King
2/10 – Ridden by Ruby Walsh
1/10 – Went onto win the Triumph Hurdle (Katchit 2006)

FREE HORSE RACING TIPS: Fascinating little race with some promising sorts on show. Alan King won this in 2006 and 2007 so his unbeaten Oceane is certainly one for the shortlist, however, Paul Nicholls also has a decent record in this contest – winning it in 2010, 2011 and 2012 so his ROMAIN DE SENAM (Bet here at 7/4 with William Hill) is the call. This horse has won its last two and was very impressive last time out at Wincanton and on the ratings looks to have a tiny bit in-hand on the King horse.

1.15 – mallardjewellers.com Novices´ Chase Cl2 3m80y

10/10 – Had won a race over at least 2m4 before
9/10 – Aged 7 or younger
9/10 – Returned 4/1 or shorter in the betting
9/10 – Raced no more than twice over fences
8/10 – Had raced at Cheltenham before
8/10 – Won between 0-1 times over fences before
8/10 – Favourites placed 1st or 2nd
7/10 – Irish bred
7/10 – Had raced in the last 6 weeks
6/10 – Aged 6 years-old
6/10 – Raced at Cheltenham (2), Aintree (2) or Wetherby (2) before
6/10 – Went onto run in the RSA Chase (no winners)
5/10 – Won last time out
4/10 – Favourites
3/10 – Trained by David Pipe
2/10 – Trained by Nigel Twiston-Davies
2/10 – Ridden by Paddy Brennan

FREE HORSE RACING TIPS: The Pipe yard have a great record in this race and they look to have another good chance – this time with UN TEMPS POUR TOUT (Bet here at 11/10 with Bet365). This horse makes his chase debut but was a high-class hurdler and was last seen winning a Grade One over in France. He’s sure to have been well-schooled for this and gets weight from most of the others. The Twiston-Davies camp have won this in 2008 and 2009 so his Blaklion is another to consider.

1.50 – Murphy Group Handicap Chase (Grade 3) Cl1 3m3f110y CH4

13/13 – Won a 3m+ race over fences before
12/13 – Ran at Cheltenham before
11/13 – Priced 9/1 or shorter in the betting
10/13 – Aged 8 or younger
9/13  – Won between 3 and 5 times over fences
9/13 – Carried 10-12 or less in weight
7/13 – Officially rated between 135 and 146
7/13 – Irish bred
7/13 – Raced within the last month
7/13 – From the top 3 in the betting
7/13 – Won over fences at Cheltenham before
6/13  – Raced at either Cheltenham (4) or Sandown (2) last time out
6/13 – Finished in the top 3 last time out
5/13 – French bred
3/13 – Won their last race
2/13 – Favourites (1 co)
2/13 – Trained by the Pipe stable
2/12 – Trained by Paul Nicholls

FREE HORSE RACING TIPS: 7 of the last 10 winners carried 10-10 or less here so with that in-mind it could pay to focus at those towards the bottom of the card. Fergal O’Brien won the race in 2013 and has a good chance with PERFECT CANDIATE (Bet here at 14/1 with Paddy Power) of adding to that success. The horse was a good second last time out here in October and is only 3lbs higher. UPSWING (Bet here at 8/1 with Ladbrokes) is another to have on your side. Jonjo O’Neill and Barry Geraghty team-up here with a horse that was a good winner last time out at Worcester. An 8lb rise makes life harder but the yard also took this in 2011 so know what’s required to land this decent pot.

2.25 – Paddy Power Gold Cup Chase (Handicap) Grade 3 (CLASS 1) (4yo+) CH4 2m4f110y

13/13 – Ran at Cheltenham before
12/13 – Won over at least 2m4f over fences before
12/13 – Won by a UK-based trainer
10/13 – Aged 6 or 7 years-old
9/13 – Won just 2 or 3 times over fences before
9/13 – Placed in the top 4 last time out
9/13 – Won at Cheltenham before
9/13 – Carried 10-13 or less
8/13 – Won by a horse in the first 3 in the betting
7/13 – Aged 7 years-old
7/13 – Favourites placed
7/13 – Won this on their seasonal reappearance
5/13 – Won last time out
4/13 – Trained by the Pipe stable
4/13 – Raced at Cheltenham last time out
3/13 – Favourites
3/13 – Raced at Carlisle last time out
The last winner aged in double-figures was in 1975
Paul Nicholls has saddled 7 placed horses (two winners, Al Ferof & Caid Du Berlais) from his last 26 runners
The average winning SP in the last 13 years is 9.5/1

FREE HORSE RACING TIPS: The feature race of the day and with the Pipe yard winning this race a staggering nine times in the past then their Kings Palace will be popular. However, he does have to bounce-back from a poor run here in the RSA Chase back in March and doesn’t look much value. Paul Nicholls has won 2 of the last 3 runnings of this so his Sound Investment and ART MAURESQUE (Bet here at 14/1 with William Hill) catch the eye. Both head here off the back of last-time-out wins, but the later was a good winner over CD here last month and is only 3lb higher. Of the rest, JOHNS SPIRIT (Bet here at 14/1 with Paddy Power) is another we like. He took this in 2013 and was a close second in 2014 – he clearly loves the race and would have been well-tuned to run well in it again off just a pound higher than 12 months ago.

3.00 – Regulatory Finance Solutions Handicap Hurdle (Listed Race) Cl1 3m1f67y CH4

12/13 – Aged 7 or younger
11/13 – Carried 10-11 or less in weight
11/13 – Winning distance – 3 ½ lengths or less
10/13 – Favourites placed
10/13 – Had between 2 and 5 previous hurdles wins
10/13 – Officially rated 126 to 137
9/13 – Won over at least 2m5f (hurdles) before
9/13 – Irish bred
9/13 – From the top 3 in the betting
8/13  – Raced at either Cheltenham (3), Aintree (3) or Chepstow (2) last time out
7/13 – Raced within the last month
6/13 – Won last time out
6/13 – Raced at Cheltenham before
5/13 – Winning favourites (1 joint)
5/13 – Priced 11/4 or shorter in the betting
4/13 – Won by the Pipe stable
1/13 – Won by an Irish-trained stable
The average winning SP in the last 10 years is 6/1

FREE HORSE RACING TIPS: A very tough race, but the Pipe yard have won this in 2012 and 2014 so their BATAVIR (Bet here at 7/1 with Ladbrokes) is interesting. Yes, a beaten favourite last time out but that run looked too bad to be true – was sent off the 6/4 favourite. There didn’t seem an obvious reason so is worth giving another chance to now he’s had around 9 months off. Of the rest, ATLANTIC GOLD (Bet here at 14/1 with Paddy Power) has been improving by the race and heads here on a three-timer after wins at Warwick and Cheltenham – an 8lb rise might not be enough to stop him being involved again.

3.35 – Martin & Co Jewellers Intermediate Handicap Hurdle Cl3 2m5f26y CH4

9/10 – Aged 5 or 6 years-old
9/10 – Won between 1-2 times over hurdles before
8/10 – Placed in the top 4 last time out
6/10 – Returned a double-figure price
6/10 – Carried 10-13 or less
6/10 – Ran in the last 6 weeks
6/10 – Favourites unplaced
6/10 – Went onto finish in the top 4 in a race at the Cheltenham Festival
5/10 – Raced at Cheltenham before
4/10 – Won their last race
4/10 – Irish bred winners
3/10 – French bred winners
2/10 – Ridden by Sam Twiston-Davies
2/10 – Trained by Paul Nicholls
1/10 – Favourites
2 of the last 3 winners went onto be placed in the Martin Pipe Conditionals race at the Cheltenham Festival that season
2 of the last 7 winners went onto be placed in the Ladbrokes World Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival that season

FREE HORSE RACING TIPS: Some big yards on show here, but this could be another for the Pipe camp with HERBERT PARK (Bet here at 4/1 with Skybet). This horse is yet to finish out of the first two from five previous runs and we know he stays further having won well over 3m last time. He’s gone well fresh in the past and the stable won this in 2010 with the classy Grands Crus. Of the others, Western Way and Champagne Express are feared most.

Wetherby Horse Racing Trends (RUK/C4)

2.05 – totescoop6 Handicap Chase Cl3 2m3f85y CH4

No previous runnings
Venetia Williams has a 29% record with her chasers at the track

FREE HORSE RACING TIPS: The Venetia Williams team are on fire at the moment and with a 29% record at the track their ELENIKA (Bet here at 4/1 with 888 Sport)might be worth chancing – despite a 574 break. The horse gets in with a lightweight and looks well-handicapped on old form. The horses are clearly going well so fitness should be fine too.

3.15 – totepoolliveinfo.com Handicap Hurdle (Qualifier for the Challenger Two Mile Hurdle Series Final) Cl3 2m CH4

1 previous running
The John Quinn yard won the race 12 months ago
John Quinn has a 20% record with this hurdlers at the track
Craig Gallagher is 3 from 9 riding over hurdles at the track

FREE HORSE RACING TIPS: Not much to go on here but the track stats point us towards three horses. John Quinn took the prize 12 months ago and tries to add to that with ARTHURS SECRET (Bet here at 15/2 with 888 Sport). The horse comes here fit from the flat and is interesting, while the yard also send KENTUCKY STAR (Bet here at 11/1 with Betfred), who blew away the cobwebs last time out at Stratford and should be better today. The final horse to note is the Craig Gallagher-ridden IT’S A MANS WORLD (Bet here at 10/1 with Boylesports) – the jockey has a decent 33% record riding over hurdles at the course.
