Free Golf Betting Tips & Preview- The 2013 BMW Championship

The BMW marks the 3^rd leg and the penultimate stop for the FedEx Cup playoffs. This year, the tournament will be played at Conway Farms Golf Club, just outside of Chicago, IL. Conway Farms was designed by Tom Fazio and opened for play in 1991. It was inspired by links style golf and is subsequently a wide open track with very few trees. The course does contain a few “pot bunkers” as we see in the UK which should add a nice wrinkle to a US played course. Even though official yardages haven’t been released, Conway Farms looks to play as a 7200+ yard par 71 course. There has never been a PGA tournament played here, so that will make this a bit of an unknown for mostly all players on TOUR. Luke Donald calls Conway Farms his home course, but is not playing his best golf now so we won’t be backing him.

The weather for the weekend looks tumultuous with highs of 81 Thursday, but a breezy 66 on Friday. Rain is expected on Sunday.

At this point in the year, I don’t look as closely at stats as I did in January-July. Players who are hot are not always reflected as that by their stats ie Jason Dufner, so it is a bit of a misnomer at times.

Let’s build on a win at the DBC and pick a winner for the 2^nd straight tourney!

Steve Stricker to win 22/1

Stricker’s reduced schedule has really produced great results this year. He has finished in the top 13 in his last 5 tournaments and a solo 2^nd at the DBC. He’s come very close to winning and this could be his week to do just that.

Jordan Spieth e/w 28/1

Spieth is on an amazing run this year. Going from not having a TOUR card, to a President’s cup captain’s pick is pretty impressive. Spieth has 1 win already this year and with 2 top 5’s in his last 3 events, he looks to be right back in form.

Jim Furyk e/w 40/1

Furyk had a bit of a misstep last week (T27) seeing that he had finished all of his previous 4 tournaments in the top 10. Jim is a great example of his stats not matching his play. He had a pretty rough start to the year but is now playing much better golf. Hopefully he can draw some Chicagoland inspiration from his US Open victory at nearby Olympia Fields.

Graham DeLaet e/w 40/1

Another player who simply has had an outstanding year and subsequently played his way onto this year’s President’s Cup team. A solo 3^rd at the DBC and a T2 at The Barclays, show the DeLaet is playing some of the best golf of his career. His 1^st PGA Tour victory could be well within grasp this week.

Zach Johnson e/w 40/1

Before missing The Barclays for his brother’s wedding, ZJ was as hot as anyone on TOUR sans Stenson. Even so, 5 top 10s in his last 6 starts with the other being a T27, ZJ is feeling confident about his game. Backing him at this number is value and Zach is a Midwest native who seemingly plays well when he gets the home cookin’.
