Everton v Manchester United Betting Tips and Predictions

Sunday's late afternoon fixture sees Everton host Manchester United at Goodison Park. Put away those Easter eggs, tune in at 4PM and here are some free football betting tips for you.

After seven straight wins, Everton were absolutely flying and few will have predicted Crystal Palace spoiling the party on Wednesday night. In truth, Palace played really well, but The Toffees were very poor in a toothless first hour in which their opponents took full advantage. After such a terrific run Roberto Martinez had put his team within touching distance of Champions League qualification, but they have stumbled at the most unlikely of hurdles. Now a point behind Arsenal with four games to play, a win over former favourite David Moyes is an absolute must.

United roll up to Merseyside with little to play for but pride and I can't imagine there is too much of that floating around either. Other than an extremely outside chance of Europa League qualification, it's fair to say their season finished in Germany last week. Although they played really well for an hour, a catastrophic lapse in concentration cost them just after they scored. It was as if they couldn't actually believe they were in front. However, losing by an aggregate of 4-2 to the European champions is nothing to be ashamed of, many teams would have fared a lot worse. To be fair to David Moyes' men, there has appeared to be a rise in form over recent weeks and United are actually on a four game winning streak away from home. In fact, away form has not been the problem for United, it has been at Old Trafford where most of the problems have arisen. Although they are still without Robin van Persie, Juan Mata has really stepped up to the plate in his absence. Playing in his favoured position, the Spanish international is finally showing the qualities than United forked out so much money for.

Browsing the early prices, there is very little to choose between the two teams. Everton are slight favourites at 6/4, with United just behind them at a best priced 21/10. Leading up to Wednesday evening, I would have backed Everton all day long. However, that defeat has left some doubt in my mind. Combine this with United's decent away form in the last few weeks, I would be inclined to back the draw at 12/5 with Coral and a further 2-2 draw at 12/1 with Befred. For those brave enough, 14/1 is available elsewhere but a 1-1 score will result in a refund as it falls under the bookmakers '1 apiece' promotion.

Looking further afield, as previously mentioned Juan Mata is in a fine run of form with multiple goals and assists in his last two games. Based on his all round contributions over the pitch, he is usually an excellent candidate for man of the match. Available at 9/1 with Betfred, back him to scoop the award at the end of the game.

Finally, although Everton aren't the biggest hitting team in the league by any stretch of the imagination, they are in fact right up at the top for one particular statistic. Second only to Manchester City, they have scored the most goals in the last fifteen minutes of their games this season, and this equates to a third of their total goals tally. At 2/1 with William Hill, back The Toffees to notch in the last fifteen minutes of the match
