Nick Henderson
TAQUIN DE SEUIL (9/2 Ladbrokes) had his excuses for a below par run last time out, most notably there had been a horrible slump in form for trainer Jonjo O’Neill.  With his yard back in rude health, the fact he shoulders bottom weight and contests this race under his favourite conditions, he is worth a bet on the hope he recaptures his form of old.

Matt Hardy
The Grade 2 Denman Chase has been something of a graveyard for short-priced favourites; ironically, the great horse that the race is named after was twice defeated at odds-on in this contest.  This year lacks a horse with that profile though, and it looks to be a wide open contest.  A chance is taken on a form revival for TAQUIN DU SEUIL (9/2 Ladbrokes), who should be suited by the course (previous Grade 1 winner here) and the likely ground.  Houblon Des Obeaux comes out best at the weights, but he might be inconvenienced by several potential front-runners and he can often find one too good.

Matt Newman
HOUBLON DES OBEAUX (3/1 Coral) has returned in good heart, lumping top weight into second place in a pair of competitive handicaps.  Plenty have won out of the Hennessy to give the form a really solid look and he rates the one to beat. Coneygree has jumped novices ragged the last twice and, although stepping up in class, he merits respect.  The main danger however may be Taquin De Seuil who showed smart novice form before never travelling last time out; however, he does still have to conclusively prove he stays this far.

Will Rooney
This looks a competitive renewal of the Denman Chase and CONEYGREE (7/2 bet365) looks to have the right credentials to succeed.  Despite still being a novice, connections obviously feel that this eight-year-old has the ability to run well and beat his more experienced rivals.  He was an impressive winner of the Feltham Novices’ Chase on Boxing Day and, despite that race falling apart, he jumped fluently throughout and would have been an easy winner regardless.
