Cheltenham Day 1 Tips – Champion Hurdle

Annie Power has been supplemented for the same connections as the withdrawn Faugheen and is the stables first choice. There is no doubt that the mare has plenty of ability but whether or not preparations have been as good as they need to be is questionable. At short odds, although receiving 7lbs from the boys, she won’t be going in my Cheltenham tips. It looks a sub-standard Champion Hurdle and although last year’s Triumph Hurdle seems to get worse with every run, the one horse that has ran with credit all year is TOP NOTCH. Nicky Henderson’s runner jumps like a Champion and with the withdrawals he can run into a place for our lucky 31 tip. Daryl Jacob has said he will likely ride him over Peace and Co, he should get a nice run into the race and I would be hugely disappointed if he did not finish in the first three.

Champion Hurdle Each-way Tip – Top Notch at 20/1 with Betfred.

Cheltenham Day 2 Tips – Neptune Investment Novice’s Hurdle

Willie Mullins could run any amount of horses in the race, but third favourite and the one who catches my eye for my Cheltenham tip on the day 2 race at quite a nice price is A TOI PHIL. He has done nothing since improve from the start of the year and looks a real genuine horse. He quickly made amends for “running out” on Patrick though and was a nice winner when beating Don’t Touch It next time out in Leopardstown. He was stepped up in grade thereafter and was very impressive when beating two good horses in Woodland Opera and Acapella Bourgeois over 2m 4f. This form has been franked since with Acapella Bourgeois winning a Grade Two next time out. Yanworth is a worthy favourite but at current prices my selection is a great each way betting tip for the Cheltenham Festival to nothing.

Cheltenham Day 3 Tips – Ryanair Chase

The Ryanair Chase is a race that could potentially be full of high class chasers, but the majority of those at the front of the market look set to take their chance in the Gold Cup a day later. With this in mind there are potentially some big priced horses with value on offer for our next Cheltenham 2016 tip. Smashing and Village Vic are likable sorts but may come up just short, whereas VIBRATO VALTAT has run some good races in defeat this year behind Un De Sceaux, Sprinter Sacre and Sire De Grugy. Paul Nicholls is bound to have him firing on all cylinders for the Cheltenham Festival and he’s a worth each-way tip. With the race most likely to cut up, he is another who will almost certainly be shorter that the 12/1 that is currently available.

Cheltenham Day 3 Tips – JLT Novices’ Chase

This is another Cheltenham race that looks wide open and perfect opportunity for us to find an each-way Cheltenham tip. Owner Simon Munir will likely be double handed here with L’Ami Serge and favourite Bristol De Mai. The former disappointed last time out and is hard to fancy, while Bristol De Mai is a huge improver, he looks like he might find the going a small bit on the lively side with good weather forecast from here on in. He is a lovely stamp of a horse and jumps with great vigour, but once again his odds look a bit skimpy in such a wide open contest. One Willie Mullis horse that will most likely go here and has some good form to back is BLACK HERCULES. He ran fourth in the Champion Bumper a few seasons back and disappointed slightly when finishing seventh in last year’s Albert Bartlett. He looks to be a better Chaser and although falling last time out when looking a comfortable winner, he can be given a chance to make up for that run at nice odds of 8/1 for our next Cheltenham tip. Patrick Mullins has recently hinted that this will likely be the race where Black Hercules runs and once declarations are made this 8/1 may look very big.

Cheltenham Day 4 Tips – Grand Annual Chase

This may well be the get out of jail card for many of punters and one horse that catches the eye for my last Cheltenham Festival betting tip is Jessica Harrington’s intended runner ROCK THE WORLD. Last seen in October at Cheltenham when winning a 2m Novice Chase, he has been spared the mud and slog of the winter and will come here as a fresh horse appreciating the nicer ground that we expect at Cheltenham. It has been reported that he is absolutely flying at home. He has been allocated a weight of 10st-13lbs, which would surely have been higher had he been running throughout the winter months and landed another race or two along the way. Although lacking a recent run, Jessica Harrington is a leading trainer and no doubt he will be fit and ready to give a good account of himself in the last race of the Festival.
