Channel 4 Racing at Newmarket: Best Betting Tips For Thursday

Newmarket plays host to a day of top class racing on Thursday afternoon with four races to be shown live on Channel 4. Here we have picked out two fancied runners who look set to go well on the day and provide some free betting tips for today’s meeting.

1.40 – Bahrain Trophy (Group 3) 1m5f

Selection: DARE TO ACHIEVE @ 5/2 with Coral

The selection is an unexposed son of Galileo who got off the mark at the third time of asking when winning with ease at short odds last time out. Previous to that he had chased home subsequent Royal Ascot winner Remote at Newbury on hi seasonal reappearance and that form has worked out well. He pulled 4L clear of the third that day with the re-opposing Testudo 10L behind him in 6^th. Remote won the Group 3 Tercentenary Stakes at Royal Ascot and with improvement likely to come from Dare To Achieve that is a strong piece of form. Bred to excel over middle distances this trip should be ideal for him and strong claims of following up his maiden victory with another success at this higher level.

2.10 – Portland Place Properties July Stakes (Group 2) 6f

Selection: SIR JOHN HAWKINS @ 9/4 with Coral

The Coventry Stakes at Ascot was a successful one for us with our pair War Command (20/1) and Sir John Hawkins coming first and third respectively. Although bred to stay well, Sir John Hawkins has shown plenty of pace in two starts to date and arguably didn’t look quite ready at this stage of his career to be sent over further than 6f. He raced up with the pace all the way and was never at any stage outpaced, before his stablemate outstayed him and sprinted clear. It was still a good effort and he should learn from the experience and although the drop back in trip is being seen as a negative by some I think it is a smart move. That form still makes him the one to beat for all he does have some unexposed rivals to contend with.
