Shaped with plenty of promise on debut over course and distance back in June and duly built on that when winning comfortably at Doncaster last time out. Quickened up impressively that day and although the bare form does not amount to much his turn of foot really caught the eye. Murtagh booked to ride and open to any amount of improvement on just his third career start.

E/W Selection: ROYAL EMPIRE @ 8/1 with Coral

Wide open contest and the selection is a horse who won on his seasonal reappearance last time out. He had previously had a successful spell in Dubai and won with something hand in a Listed contest at Newbury, staying on well in the final furlong. Shapes as if this trip will suit him and although that is not a certainty he tends to settle well and has a very able pilot in Kieran Fallon to help him last out the trip. Relatively lightly raced and this step up in trip could bring about more improvement.

3.15 Newbury – Betfred Hungerford Stakes (Group 2) 7f

Selection: SOFT FALLING RAIN @ 7/4 with Coral

Unbeaten in 7 seven starts and was last seen when winning the Group 2 Godolphin Mile in Dubai. Still hard to gauge just how good he is and this will likely show us more as he is pitched in against some smart performers. He has some smart rivals in opposition but he looks open to most improvement and looks likely to go close with a previous success on his travels.
