Starting with PACHA DU POLDER (9/1 Ladbrokes), this Paul Nicholls trained runner finished tenth behind Holywell at the Cheltenham Festival, in what looked to be a solid comeback after a ten month lay off.  He needed that run, and could well improve no-end for that reappearance.  The form of that race is looking solid, with both the winner and runner-up claiming victories at Aintree.  Arguably, the horses in opposition today are of a lower class so he should be suited by the easier race.  He’s run well on good ground in the past, and it looks as if Paul Nicholls has placed this horse well by running him here.  He looks sure to go well at a generous price.

His main rivals looks to be the Caroline Keevil trained Bally Legend (14/1 SkyBet) and the Evan Williams trained Buywise (11/4 Betfred).  The former won the valuable BetBright Chase at Kempton on his penultimate start before a slightly below-par showing at Newbury.  The latter has been placed well by his trainer, claiming a hat-trick of victories since the turn of the year.

Of the others, Carrickboy (10/1 Betfred) looks like he may need a bit more cut in the ground, Astracad (15/2 William Hill) has failed to get his head in front over the last couple of seasons, and Real Milan (8/1 SkyBet) looks to lack the necessary class to win here.

It looks a competitive race in which a handful of runners look to have serious chances.  At the prices, PACHA DU POLDER appeals the most and although carrying top weight, he looks to be up against inferior opposition.  This drop down in class will suit and he should arrive fresh, well and ready to produce a solid effort.
