Ascot Gold Cup 2015 Betting Tips on Day 3 of Royal Ascot

Ascot Gold Cup betting tips and predictions for the 4.20pm race on day 3 of Royal Ascot 2015.

The Ascot Gold Cup is the feature race of Royal Ascot. Raced over two-and-a-half miles, the winner does not just receive Group 1 success but immortality to join a host of names like the mighty four-time winner Yeats, Royal Rebel, Estimate owned by the Queen and last year's winner Leading Light.

Ascot Gold Cup Betting Tips 2015

Dermot Weld won this race in 2010 and saddles ante-post favourite Forgotten Rules. The five-year-old has had just four racecourse runs, however, he's a horse who possesses plenty of talent. After cruising to victory on debut at Punchestown and following that effort at Galway, he lined up in the Group 2 Long Distance Championship on Champions Day at Ascot last season. Despite being significantly less experienced than his rivals, the son of Nayef was in a battle and come out on top winning the contest. He'd have learned plenty that day and showed that he has a keen attitude to get his head in-front of the line. Forgotten Rules made his seasonal return at Navan last month in the Vintage Crop Stakes and despite the contest being slightly on the sharp side over one mile and six furlongs, his class seen him prevail. After blowing out his winter cobwebs, he should come on leaps and bounds from his run at Navan and has solid form at Ascot. His profile has everything that requires to be an Ascot Gold Cup winner; class, stamina and a worthy team around him and certainly is the one to beat.

Aidan O'Brien has won this race with some top-class horses previously including Yeats, Fame And Glory and last year with Leading Light. His arsenal isn't as strong for this renewal and it looks like Kingfisher will be his main hope. The son of Galileo has raced in top-class races throughout his career and was second in the Irish Derby last year. Connections now feel his is a staying horse and won well at Leopardstown last time. However, he was decisively beaten by Forgotten Rules in the Vintage Crop Stakes and it's difficult to see a reason why that form will be reversed.

Richard Hannon isn't renowned for his staying horses, however, intends to run Windshear. He was fourth in last year's St. Leger, but, has landed in the winner's enclosure just once since. It appears that he is being tried at the distance in hope and likely will not threaten.

FORGOTTON RULES is a worthy favourite and looks to be a solid bet. He is guaranteed the trip, has course form and overall looks a better horse than his rivals.
