Arsenal v Wigan Betting Tips and Predictions

Arsenal's nine year long quest for silverware enters what the Gunners hope is the penultimate stage as they take on Championship side Wigan in the FA cup semi-final at Wembley and we have free football betting tips.

Lets not mince words Arsenal have been incredibly bad in the last four games. Last weekend Everton played them off the park and deservedly beat them 3-0. Before that there was the 6-0 disaster against Chelsea. The comedy own goal against Swansea and the one glimmer of hope the good 45 minutes of football against Manchester City that won them a very credible point.

Partly the cause of this poor form is Arsenal's seemingly perpetual injury difficulties. There is almost no first team player in the Arsenal squad who is not either injured to battling back to fitness. Alongside long term absentees Wilshere, Ozil and Walcott there are also doubts over Oxlade-Chamberlain, Koscielny and Gibbs. Flamini also misses the semi-final through suspension.

These injuries mean that Ramsey and Kallstrom will both start for Arsenal. Are either match fit though?

Under Uwe Rosler meanwhile Wigan have been one of the form teams in the country and are up to fifth in the Championship. In 29 games Wigan have won 17 times and lost only 5 times. On top of this Wigan go into this game with no pressure on them.

As Uwe Rosler pointed out in his press conference Wigan “can only win”. Arsenal meanwhile have the pressure of nine years of failure weighing down on them and are in poor form. I smell a cupset.

An Arsenal win is ½ with bet365 whilst at draw is 10/3 and a Wigan win is 6/1.

It's disappointing that Wigan are not at slightly longer odds but you have to back them at this price. Arsenal are going to go out and play the game they always play whilst Rosler's teams are far more tactically flexible and will adapt themselves to exploit Arsenals numerous weaknesses. At 6/1 Wigan are a great bet.

An even better bet though is both teams to score and Wigan to win which comes in at 11/1. Whilst I can't see Arsenal winning I can't see Wigan keeping a clean sheet.  

Since Kieran Gibbs is injured it is likely that the defensively suspect Nacho Monreal will be playing at left back. Wigan's squad is packed with talented wide men who could exploit this weakness. As I said earlier Rosler mixes things up tactically so it is hard to nail down who will start on the right but attacking midfielder Callum McManaman looks tempting at 7/1 with Ladbrokes.
