I actually backed this now nine year old on his debut when he won at 33.1 so its fair to say he doesn’t owe me anything, yet he has failed to live up to original expectations and they are still struggling to get the best out of the son of Court Cave and try a first time visor today. There is no doubt that if they can get the best out of him somehow he is certainly well weighted – could this afternoon be the day?

Shantou Village – 4.30pm Wetherby

Bought for £80,000 after winning a solitary point to point at Loughanmore in Ireland, he has been the talk of the town of late and is rumoured to be working very well ahead of this National Hunt flat race debut. It does always worry me as this is a drop back to two miles after winning over three, but he seems to have enough speed on the gallops and ought to get in to the first three which is all we need in an each way bet!
