Expert Betting Tips For Sandown

1:25 Sandown

Nicky Henderson can’t have had many National Hunt horses rated 103, and so PRINCESS OMBU (5/2 Coral) jumps off the page in this opening handicap hurdle for juveniles.  She’s shown a little bit of promise in her opening three runs over timber, and is surely capable of better now handicapping.  It looks significant that the master of Seven Barrows has given her a break and chosen such a high-profile card to reintroduce this daughter of High Chaparral.

2:00 Sandown

This is a good contest and there are a few with entries at Cheltenham later in the week.  GREAT TRY (NAP) (7/1 bet365) looks to have very strong claims, with the step up to 2m4f a major positive.  His form is rock-solid, particularly in races were he has finished behind Ballybolley and Clean Sheet (both now rated 135), and racing off 125 today he looks well worth chancing.

3:10 Sandown

This is a superbly competitive renewal of the Imperial Cup, and most eyes will turn to Bidourey due to the Pipe yard’s fabulous record in this contest.  However, this will be the fastest ground the likely favourite has encountered, and his form is hard to weigh up.  No horse has carried 11st or more to victory here in recent times, so it’s perhaps worth focusing on horses with lighter weights.  SOME BUCKLE (14/1 Paddy Power), has eye-catching form to his name, will appreciate the drop in trip and better ground, and he can continue his progressive profile with a good run at big odds.

3:45 Sandown

Willie Mullins and Ruby Walsh are set to embark on what could be an historic week – and they can get things off to a flying start with BABYLONE DES MOTTE (5/1 William Hill), who is their choice from an array of talented individuals available to them.  In the last six years, Irish horses have twice contested this race, and on both occasions (in 2009 and 2014) they have claimed success.
