Roger Charlton's Thistle Bird (11/4 Betfred) was a battling three quarters of a length winner in of last year’s renewal, and the six year-old bids to retain her crown. She has failed to get her head in front after that victory, but ran creditably in some top class races during 2013. She disappointed when fancied for the Middleton Stakes on her seasonal reappearance and she will need to bounce back to form to claim victory here. She is 4lbs clear of her closest rival on BHA official ratings and has the added advantage of course and distance winning form.
JUST THE JUDGE (9/2 SkyBet) has struggled to emulate her early 3 year-old form that saw her finish runner-up in the 1000 Guineas at Newmarket, before going one better in the Irish equivalent. She made her seasonal reappearance in the Earl Of Sefton Stakes but finished mid-field. Undoubtedly, to win this contest, she will need to recapture her form of old but hopefully her first start will have put her spot on here. She is a classy animal when seen to her best and, under what are likely to be ideal conditions, she looks to have the ideal opportunity to get back on track.
Sir Michael Stoute's Mango Diva (9/2 Coral) will have to give 3lbs to all of her rivals, but she did finish in front of the aforementioned Thistle Bird in the Middleton Stakes and will be looking to back that form up. The drop back in trip is not sure to suit and could be a tad too sharp, however she is open to plenty of improvement.
Odeliz (9/2 William Hill) finished ahead of both Mango Diva and Thistle Bird at York and looks to be a leading contender here. She travelled really well when just denied by subsequent Irish 1000 Guineas third Vote Often on her seasonal reappearance, beaten only a head giving that rival over a stone. She returns to the 8f having been seen over further and, at her best, she has leading claims.
Eve Johnson Houghton’s four-year-old filly Amulet (25/1 SkyBet) was a rapid improver last season but disappointed on her first two starts of 2014. A week after running poorly at Goodwood, she returned to the track and made every yard of the running at Ascot, holding off the highly regarded James Fanshawe trained Ribbons, last month. That was a career best effort but she needs to take another step up to land this and looks likely to contest the lead.
Another notable entrant is Zurigha (9/1 William Hill) who was a Listed winner two starts ago. She returned this season with a relatively impressive effort when winning the Snowdrop Stakes at Kempton when giving weight to her rivals. She disappointed on her latest start when she was keen in the Dahlia Stakes at Newmarket and will need to settle better here.

JUST THE JUDGE has failed to win since landing the Irish Guineas last season but is clearly a class act on her day and is second in on official ratings. With a run under her belt this season, and conditions looking to suit, the filly could well be spot on here and should give a good account of herself. Last years winner Thistle Bird looks the main danger but preference is for the Charlie Hill trained runner.
