Cheltenham Festival Champion Hurdle Expert Betting Tips

Faugheen has been a short price favourite since winning the Christmas Hurdle at Kempton.  Still unexposed, it's not hard to believe that there is more in the tank but this will be his first proper test against true Grade 1 opposition.

The New One is next best in the market having looked unlucky in the race last year.  His form this season, despite being unbeaten, doesn't look as strong as last year although the return to better ground will suit.

Returning champion JEZKI (9/2 William Hill) looks to have been trained with this contest in mind all season.  He has seen the back of Hurricane Fly three times this season but the better ground should see him reverse the placings.

Hurricane Fly must be respected as a former dual champion but the quicker ground looks against him and he has not been at his best on his last couple of visits to Prestbury Park.

At a much bigger price I put up Kitten Rock in an ante-post preview a few weeks ago.  He has done nothing but improve all season and, while he has a fair chunk to find to trouble the top three in the betting, it would he no surprise to see him outrun his odds.

The 2015 renewal of the Champion Hurdle is more of a race to watch and savour than to get seriously involved in.  I put JEZKI up as an alternative to Faugheen in previous race previews and I see no reason to change my mind now with the Willie Mullins trained favourite the most likely winner but the defending champion my idea of his closest challenger.
