Despite finishing second in their group, the Gunners will be hopeful of a better result than last year where they were dumped out at this stage to German giants Bayern Munich. In finishing second, Wenger’s men may have dodged a bullet, ending up drawing a relatively unfancied Monaco side instead of Juventus, who Dortmund will face as a result of topping the group. Monaco are in similarly good form in Ligue 1 winning 7 from their last 10 games, conceding just 1 goal in the process. They sit fourth in the table, and like The Gunners, they are pushing hard to secure a Champions League place. In this year’s competition Monaco finished top of group C, albeit with fewer points than Arsenal gained to finish second in Group D. Leonardo Jardim’s team boast a great defensive record, conceding just 1 goal in all 6 group games.
