Albert Bartlett Novices’ Hurdle Expert Betting Tips

Willie Mullins has plenty of runners for this race and his best chance has to be Black Hercules.  A close fourth in the Champion Bumper last season, a testing distance has always been the plan for this son of Heron Island.  He's unbeaten over hurdles winning his two races in easy fashion which included the Grade 3 Kerry Group Stayers Novice Hurdle.  Jumping is not a problem for Mullins' charge, nor is the distance, however I question whether he will be fit enough after almost three months off for this gruelling test.

Gordon Elliot has had a quieter Festival than expected but he will be hopeful NO MORE HEROES (5/1 William Hill) can bag him another winner.  This six-year-old caught plenty the eye when winning at Punchestown in his maiden hurdle and then looked a stayer in the making when beating Shaneshill in the Grade 2 Navan Novices' Hurdle.  Next time out this son of Presenting disappointed however, he scoped badly after the race and Windsor Park, who finished ahead of No More Heroes went on to land the Neptune Investment Management Novices' Hurdle on Wednesday.  That form is rock solid and he should relish this longer trip.

Value At Risk represents the Dan Skelton yard and looks to give the young trainer his first Festival winner.  Plenty of hype surrounded this son of Kayf Tara after his third to Shaneshill at Punchestown in the bumper last season and he did not disappoint after his first run over hurdles.  He cruised home at Newbury, beating subsequent winner Foryourinformation by an impressive 22 lengths.  Last time out, this six-year-old disappointed at Cheltenham in a Grade 2 however he should appreciate the step-up in trip.

Harry Fry is another young trainer who has lively chances in this contest.  I prefer Fletchers Flyer of his duo, a horse who has been impressive this term.  After winning at the Punchestown Festival last season, he has since won twice over hurdles and was narrowly beaten at Haydock Park last time out.

NO MORE HEROES has looked a stayer in the making and should relish this trip.  There were genuine excuses for his latest effort, the form of which has been franked several times, and he is expected to run very well here.
